Tulum ruins, about 18 minutes from Aventuras Akumal, known as "The Walled City." These are some of the most dramatic ruins of the Maya. Sitting right on a rocky bluff above the shoreline, the Tulum ruins have an incredible view of the turquoise caribbean.
Coba is another impressive ruins site just 40 minutes west of Tulum. These jungle ruins have a pyramid over 100 feet high. A less traveled site, the ruins aren't manicured like Chichen Itza and Tulum and retain that jungle feel. Mornings are the coolest time to walk around.
